The Original iPad Prototype Revealed From The Early 2000′s
Due to Apple and Samsung’s patent lawsuit battle in 2012, Apple and Samsung were denied requests to keep relevant top secret company information away from the public.
Apple’s famous industrial designer Sir Jonathan Ives was forced to reveal details about an original Apple Tablet (Later to be named iPad) prototype, which sparked the the idea for the design of the iPhone and put the tablet on hiatus for 8 years.
Original iPad Prototype (2002-2004) Part 1
The Prototype Tablet was codenamed "035". From the outside it looks like early-mid 2000's white MacBook. Besides the depth of the device, it's general shape, minimal ports and keyboard remains fairly consistant with todays form factor.
You can see what appears to be some sort of dock connector similar to the 30-pin connector that shipped with the third generation ipod and early iPhones and iPads.
